In order to preserve the historical maps, NLSC had signed an academic research contract with Research Center for Humanities and Social Sciences of Academia Sinica (RCHSS) to scan old cadastral maps for digital preservation and academic research on December 24, 2010.
On March 15, 2012, RCHSS CEO I-Chun Fan led group leader Hsiung-Ming Liao and other 2 team members to visit NLSC and attend the coordination conference for old cadastral maps digital preservation and academic research cooperation. The conference was moderated by Deputy Director Hui-Chang Su of NLSC and CEO Fan. This conference discussed the issues of project planning in 2012 and how to strengthen the academic cooperation and finally passed a resolution. This resolution will be the basis for performing the contract.
