Meeting on Second Stage Opening of e-GPS and Integrating CORS Resources, NLSC

The National Land Surveying and Mapping Center (NLSC) held the meeting for discussing affairs relating to e-GPS on August 30, 2012. Mr. Liu Jeng-lun, the director of the NLSC, presided the meeting. Participants including representatives of national security-related organizations and local governments joined the meeting. The second stage of opening for the e-GPS real-time dynamic positioning system services and the integration of the Continuously Operating Reference Systems (CORS) around the nation were discussed. It reached to a common consensus that the second stage opening will be effective on January 1, 2013. The limits of registration will be decreased and the application procedures will be simplified much more as well. The other topic also came to the good end. NLSC is willing to cooperate with the local governments on the integration of the existing GPS positioning sources for customized services to widen and expand its effectiveness. Hopefully after integration, the expenses of GPS stations rebuilding and maintenance could be reduced.
