The Taiwan Electronic Maps (Taiwan e-Map) is the national electronic map produced by the government since 2011. Taiwan e-Map is updated in two-year cycle, while the important roadways and landmarks, urban planning and users’ feedback of local changes will be updated immediately. Many basic geographic information are included, such as roadways, railways, drainage systems, administrative boundaries, blocks, buildings, landmarks, control points, and color orthophotos. The accuracy of Taiwan e-Map is approximately 1.25 meters. It is more accurate than other commercial maps. The geographic information of Taiwan e-Map is more complete for official decision-making and commercial value-added applications such as disaster management, transportation planning, water conservation, economic planning, tourism, academic research and business analysis. Taiwan e-Map has been regarded as national base map by National Development Council. For much more value-added applications, National Land Surveying and Mapping Center (NLSC) uses map tiles technology to provide different versions of web map tiles services through Taiwan Map Service (https://maps.nlsc.gov.tw), such as Chinese version, English version, translucent version for color orthophotos, and version with elevation information. Now Taiwan Map Service is widely used in various fields.
Based on the users’ feedback and the upgraded data content, the map tiles style of road, mark, railways, high speed rail and contour are adjusted in the new template. NLSC invited relevant experts, scholars, and users of government agencies and company to discuss the map tiles template. The new template of Taiwan e-Map map tiles display one-way driving direction and the track types of railways and high speed rail. The icons of marks and the style of contour and road alias name are redesigned. This new template of Taiwan e-Map map tiles is now released on the Taiwan MAP Service. Welcome to visit the website.
