The total land area of Taiwan Island is around 3.557 million hectares, and the total area of the state-owned forest compartment lands is around 1.559 million hectares accounting for 43.8% of the total land area. Most of these forest lands are located in mountain areas of Central Mountain Range, and were not performed cadastral survey and land registration. For enhancing the management, conservation, and utilization of forest compartment lands, completing establishment of cadastral data, the “Taiwan Province State-Owned Forest Compartment Lands Cadastral Survey and Land Registration Project” has been formulated to conduct survey and registration of each region in various phases.

       The 3-year project, the Phase 1: a total of 38,721 land parcels have been registered (including those in the project area) with a total area of 998,652 hectares from 1998 to 2000.
       The modification project, the Phase 2: a total of 45,128 land parcels have been registered (including those in the project area) with a total area of 514,567 hectares from 2004 to 2009.
